ABOUT CAYLIN SPEAR
Caylin Spear is a local artist and teacher on the island of Kauai. Her art career began over 20 years ago after graduating with a visual arts Bachelor's degree from Bennington College in Vermont and the Cyprus College of Art postgraduate program in Europe. After traveling the world Caylin came back to her home town of Hanapepe to continue her life as and artist and teacher. Caylin received a Masters in Fine Art in 2013 from the Academy of Art University. She has been teaching art for the past 19 years through different organizations on Kauai such as: the Hawaii Department of Education, Circles of Light, Storybook Theatre of Hawaii, the Kauai Academy of Creative Arts, and the Queen Liliuokalani Children's Center. Her involvement in Kauai Society of Artists and the Hawaii Craftsmen also keeps her connected to the broad range of arts in the state of Hawaii. She is an active and inspiring artist and surfer in her community despite her physical challenges as an above the knee amputee from birth.
